Multi day trip on the lower Yough. The Lower Yough is a classic class 3 run with lots of play spots and is the next step up from the Lehigh or Mongaup. A roll is generally recommended as with any class 3 river there are a few spots where a swim could be painful. I will be there from Thursday 6/11 through Sunday 6/14. I have booked a group camping site at the outflow campground in Confluence. Weekday paddling has fewer commercial rafters and generally lower water levels.
Paddlers are welcome to join this trip for whatever days they are available. Weekend only is fine if your schedule doesn’t allow weekdays. If you are feeling adventurous and would like to run the falls I am willing to do that but it is dependent on water levels and only on weekdays.
This is not a beginner trip. The Lower Yough is a solid class III river. You should be proficient on the Lehigh & Mongaup prior to attempting the Lower Yough. You will encounter large wave trains, holes and undercut rocks that must be negotiated to avoid injuries. Please take a look at the AW website to determine if you will be comfortable on this river.
Note – due to website programing if you pay for camping you will be automatically approved. The coordinator reserves the right to unapproved unqualified paddlers.
