KCCNY owns and can loan out to members the a variety of whitewater gear including kayaks, spray skirts, helmets, pfds and neoprene for the pool or shoulder season for KCCNY Club events only*. Though we expect a little wear and tear, borrowers are expected to return equipment in a timely manner and to replace broken or damaged equipment with similar (or better) equipment or pay a reasonable replacement cost.

Inflatables: We own a raft and a single and tandem star inflatable kayaks aka duckies. Inflatables are a great way to let folks like family and friends experience the thrills of whitewater.
Duckies are much more stable then ‘hard shell’ kayaks and allow paddlers with little or no experience to paddle real whitewater. As they take special care, we generally add these as part of trip sign ups.
If you are interested in learning how to take care of any of these contact us or equipment chair Chris Dubetsky or defacto head of inflatables Frank Chiocco.
If you are interested in captaining the raft, join us for a rafting trip. For those with whitewater experience it’s not hard, but the lines are different and the art of both steering the raft and instructing the crew at the same time takes a little practice.

For non-drivers, we’ll do our best to get equipment to a river, but whitewater kayaking is a sport that pretty much requires a vehicle (or living on a river;-). You’ll most likely be asked to visit our secret North Jersey location or a member’s house for fitting and paperwork.

Prospective members should contact us for more info about loaners

Members (and guests) should contact Chris Dubetsky by phone (preferred).

Please allow several days (or more) to arrange logistics.

Completed forms should be submitted via the form below to create a time stamped record of your loan.

*Events need to be on our schedule and insured by KCCNY. Coordinators must be KCCNY members. Another member or guest must participate. In other words, as long as a member is paddling with someone else, follows some basic procedures and submits some paperwork it’s a club event.
