Another fan favorite that almost always happens. Levels as high as 4000 cfs on Friday means big fun waves near the height of fall foliage with relatively warm water, but the 2500ish that almost always happens is arguably even more fun (and feel free to go to FaceBook if you want to argue).
The Lehigh at bigger water, so a reliable roll is nice as swims are long. There’s lots of big avoidable holes and good on the fly surfing (best for longer boats as boat speed matters). (Almost) nothing is retentive and water is relatively warm (still likely heavier wet-suit at a minimum…it is October) so it’s a chance to hit holes and waves you wouldn’t normally hit…or just float fast in a pretty place.
Registration will be opened up as we get closer and have a better guess on water (and food)…most likely late August.
We’re camping at Hickory Run Group campsites and have a site reserved for Friday and Saturday so could easily add Thursday or Sunday. Now with actual bathrooms and showers near the large comfortable, large sites – large enough that tents can be pitched back in the woods so those who prefer to paddle well rested can get far enough from those who think being tired adds to the challenge.
If anyone wants to volunteer to coordinate shared food please contact us. Adult beverages are technically prohibited.
All paddlers are expected to help with shuttle. The Lehigh has longer shuttles (and the mega can have mega long shuttles). Paddlers in the past have ‘accidentally’ arrived late or ‘suddenly’ needed to leave early.
Failure to help with shuttle, unless cleared with the coordinator beforehand, is grounds for not being allowed to join the trip and even not being allowed to participate in club trips in the future.
This may include a request that you leave your camping gear at the site so you have room in your vehicle.
