The Tohickon is the first northeast release of the year and the traditional start of the paddling season for many. A great step up river with drops not normally found on a class 3 river, but the spring releases cold water makes is a bet less forgiving to swims or multiple rolls. Generally a good river for someone who was already comfortable on class 2 like the Mongaup last and spent some pool time improving their roll, but won’t be much fun if you’re stepping up further.
Camping at take-out if the Delaware isn’t flooding.
The Tohickon spring release almost always happens but won’t be for sure till a few weeks before.
