Pride Day on the River is a volunteer-led whitewater paddlesports community dedicated to LGBTQIA2S+ participation and visibility on the river. The nation’s first whitewater queer pride annually on the Deerfield River in Charlemont, Massachusetts.
Pride group paddle of Fife Brook (noon Saturday), 2 day dry-way release, after party at Zoar Outdoors in Charlemont. Open to all – allies included.
We’ll likely be paddling the Dryway and Fife, but we’ll handle paddling wit a separate sign up requiring KCCNY membership at a later date. Raft is a possibility.
Details on their website at pridedayontheriver.org.
We have the group site at Savory State Park Friday – Monday.Â
This is a nice, spacious site relatively close to bathrooms but with limited parking at the site which the rangers enforced the last time we were there. More parking at the ranger’s station (a short walk) and plenty of parking about a 10 minute walk away (in the beach overflow parking).
On site parkers may be asked to shuttle to overflow parking a few times.
Bear boxes on site.
Like all state parks alcohol is officially prohibited and we will expect discretion. Bring an insulated mug and you’ll be discreet and have a cold beverage.
Savoy State Park features 2 beautiful lakes with swimming as well as hiking and other non-paddler family friendly activities.
KCCNY as usual will share food and generally have multiple camp stoves for cooking. If someone wants to take lead on breakfasts reach out to the coordinator.
