Event Type

Sean Kraft is bringing his raft and we’re going to try to set up the grill at the ‘lunch’ spot. For those that don’t know, this is the traditional place to take a break with a wide beach, great squirt lines, and the ‘boof’
We’re planning on trying some safety such as group wading and throwing ropes as well.

Likely impromptu squirt lessons.

If you can bring something to add to the bbq great, but avoid stuff that can’t take a bouncing (chips) and no glass is allowed on the river per park service policy.

Come on out for a full Mongaup 2 barrel and enjoy the technical lines, waves, fun 1-mile continuous class 2 whitewater, and beautiful Catskill region nature. This is a step up from the Lehigh in difficulty, and a nice 3-mile river allows for multiple laps. It’s a fun river.

The exact meet time is to be determined but the first barrel starts at 10, 2nd at 11 (2 barrels are required for a raft). Room in the raft, preferably with some experience.

Hiking up is also possible, though if the raft does multiple laps as planned getting to the actual bbq will require a swim from the cliffs.

A few folks are going to meet early and do a faster first run so they can get in 2 runs and still spend time at the BBQ.

Forecast looks good ‘A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 83.
