Event Type

Join us a  1 barrel whitewater release on the Mongaup. It’s a great chance to surf some waves, catch some eddies and knock off the winter rust. Water will still be cool but warming. Still, dry gear, heavy wetsuits or skills and cautious paddling required.

Note that with continued issues with the Mongaup /Rio dam exact volume or even the release is subject to change. Check the Mongaup Rio Ongoing Saga post for the latest updates.

As of Friday, May 15th ‘From eagle creek the dam operators:
“There will be additional flow on Sunday, beyond the 1-unit release that is currently scheduled. The additional flow would be spilling over the Rio dam and is being initiated because there is an internal inspection that is occurring on Monday morning at Rio reservoir. The USGS gauge will show an increase in flow beginning sometime on Sunday.”
We’ll post further as we learn about the flows and if they’ll be enough to paddle from the dam (which many of us enjoyed a month ago).
