Lower Youghiogheny (III)

Multi-day mid week trip on the class 3 Lower Yough. The plan is to paddle on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8/20-8/22. Anybody looking to take the next step up from the Mongaup should consider this trip. The river is bigger, generally more open and pushier than the Mongaup. There are some areas where the line is tight and a bad line will have consequence.

I will be staying at the outflow campground in Confluence and will ask people to make their own camping reservations

This is not a beginner trip. The Lower Yough is a solid class III river. You should be proficient on the Lehigh & Mongaup prior to attempting the Lower Yough. You will encounter large wave trains, holes and undercut rocks that must be negotiated to avoid injuries. Please take a look at the AW website to determine if you will be comfortable on this river.
