Event Type

Spacious and comfortable group campsite at Mohawk Trail State Forest.

3 day release on both  Dryway (Class IV- a great time to step up) and Fife Brook (Class II ending in Class III Zoar gap, a great beginner river) + they’ll be time to take advantage of the festival offerings.

Campsite is about 5 miles from the Festival Site at Berkshire East Ski Area. Festival details at https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Wiki/aw:events_deerfield.

FOOD: Erik Werner will organize group breakfast food both days but you’ll be asked to help. Bacon, sausage, eggs toast and coffee. Plenty of filling food to start your day.
Friday night those at the campsite will potluck and most folks will go to the festival Saturday night.

Not a KCCNY member? Our reasonable $5 guest fee will allow you to register at the member price.

FREE CAMPING and whatever else it takes for a Massachusetts resident (and whoever refers them) who can take over the registration so we don’t have to pay Mass’s ridiculous out-of-state pricing**.

Limited parking – so a surcharge if you want a guaranteed parking spot on site – and adult beverages technically prohibited at site.

Paddling: Like most festivals, trips will be a bit more laid back, but we expect to have a Dryway trips (mostly coordinated by Tom Hart) and Fife trips (mostly coordinated by Eric Werner) every day.
If you’re thinking of paddling both rivers sign up for both.

Cell service in the area is spotty, so if you want to join us be sure sign up as emails or group texts will be sent out each evening.

*Plan on being discrete. Pro-tip: Insulated mugs keep beverages cold.
**Most states charged 30-50% more to out of staters. Mass charges about 200% more.
The Mass resident will need to visit ranger station but need not be the 1st to arrive.
