We’re approaching that time of year when air warms and lots of folks want to hit the water with new boats or pool rolls and don’t understand the risks. Cold water can kill, but with proper equipment and precautions can be paddled in safely.
Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club (YPRC) club will be having a cold water workshop in partnership with the Beczak Environmental Center.
- Learn all about cold water paddling, even if you paddle starting in the spring (May water is still very cold).
- See what gear you will need to have, what skills and also what dangers.
- Knowledge is power
- Put your head and hands in 41 degree water and experience what it feels like to capsize.
- Something every paddle should know about
- Join YPRC members and friends
- Bring a snack to share
KCCNY members are welcome to attend and participate and share their whitewater experiences.
Registration not required. Event link (which provides little additional info).
