Costumes optional but recommended. A great end of the season day on the water. Compete, help out, watch carnage, eat.
Club-sponsored BBQ to follow. Please bring an appetizer, side dish, salad, or dessert to share with the paddling community.
As for the race itself, it will likely be a another mass start race in with zombies on the course. If you get tagged by a zombie, you’re a zombie and you try to zombify the other racers. Volunteers needed still needed for BBQ afterwards. Contact us if you can help.
ESCAPE FROM ZOMGAUP – PART 3 – RULES
Like to be tweaked again, but also likely to be a good time.
Objective: Reach the extraction zone prior to the time limit without getting infected.
Check-in at the Put-in at 1pm; Event starts at 1:50pm
1) If a zombie tags a participant’s boat, gear or body with their hand, the participant is “infected”.
2) Once infected, the participant must safely and immediately stop evading the zombie and surrender their token, at which time they become a zombie and try to infect other participants.
3) Zombies must secure the token prior to infecting additional participants.
4) Zombies may not sneak up on participants. Play the part! Give a groan, growl, hiss or other zombie-like noises.
5) Zombies may not coordinate with other zombies. No cattle herding!
6) Absolutely no boat ramming, pulling skirts, purposefully flipping anyone over or paddle chopping!
7) All participants and Zombies must follow the direction of safety boaters.
8) Any swimmers are eliminated.
9) TIME LIMIT… The event ends 30 minutes after evacuation begins. Any participants/zombies that have not made it to the safe zone will be eliminated due to an imminent “nuclear strike” (air horn will sound).
10) FINISH LINE… Make sure to see the time keepers at the evacuation zone to get your race time and zombie points recorded.
