Event Type

First annual and very informal MongaupFest. A 2 barrel release with the whole KCCNY flotilla of rafts and duckies followed by a BBQ sponsored by Eagle Creek, the Mongaup Dam operators*.

They are dumping water and its supposed to clear on Saturday so we expect only a slightly bigger than normal release and good weather for BBQ.

This is a classic Mongaup 2 barrel with a twist. If you’re bringing a guest along for the BBQ or can help with purchasing or set up or bring something special please note comments/questions.
Eagle Creek the dam operators will cover the cost of the main course (burgers or the like) with KCCNY and other clubs kicking in.
Please bring an appetizer, side, salad or dessert to share and your own beverages.
If you can bring something more involved please contact the coordinator (and yes, KCCNY can help with $). BYOB.

If a guest is joining for just the BBQ please add in notes.

Safe wading practice during the BBQ. Swiftwater wading is the most common rescue and just upstream of  BBQ site is a good place to practice. We’ll wade out into the stream using paddles or other people for stability. Especially if the water is still on we’ll practice what you should do when you slip wading, which is get into the rescue swimming position on your back with your feet forward, swimming towards an eddy when it’s safe or looking for a throw rope. More info on swiftwater wading.

CAMPING/BOATING/FAMILY FUN WEEKEND.
The property is about an hour from the Mongaup with composting toilets and no running water. Camping Friday and Saturday night. Alcohol and other NJ legal substances allowed, but this is a family event. If you imbibe, do so in moderation. Contact Jason Albert directly for more info or to sign up for camping.

KCCNY  Lehigh trip scheduled for Sunday, though these water levels are more in doubt.

*It’s really great to have a partner like Eagle Creek who works with us to make whitewater releases successful and voluntarily offers a BBQ.
