Wildflowers greet you along the riverbanks.
Amish horse-drawn buggies trot about town.
Scenic pastures stretch out as far as you can see.
These highpoints alone make NY’s popular Salmon River well worth the trip.
The Salmon, so varyingly picturesque, is also known for its gradually increasing challenges.
This fun route is mostly Class 2 whitewater, but even affords an easy mid-point bail out spot, if wished.
There are some swifter, yet still avoidable, Class 3 action at the end for people stepping up their skill level. Lots of wave play spots abound, including “Titanic,” a very friendly hole to learn how to side surf (or to find out what window-shading means).
We welcome KCCNY & AMC on this joint adventure, especially to join our group camp site reserved at Stoney’s Pineville Campground.
Contribute to the potluck campfire party Sat. night.
This trip requires car shuttling,
Also required are whitewater outfitted boats & equipment, and prior Class 2 whitewater experience.
