Cancelled due to flooding.
So sorry, but unfortunately due to local flooding, I am cancelling this large group trip. River Country’s parkinglot and camping area is flooded and they have cancelled all camping and parking. So there’s no parking at take-out. https://rivercountry.net/nockamixon-dam-release/ .
There’s no cell service at put-in to coordinate impromptu meet-ups. You may be able to paddle a few miles down the Delaware and take-out in New Jersey. But I’ve never done that and the Delaware River itself is cranking at 30,000 CFS.
The Tohickon is the first northeast release of the year. A great step up river, class 3+, with 5 ledge drops approximately 3 feet. March paddling can be cold water, cold air paddling, so participants should have cold weather gear on hand and an 80% roll. We’ll have a guided lap for first-timers to the Toh who are comfortable on Class 3 (like taking multiple lines and catching eddies on the bottom Mongaup). With cold water, this may not be a good step up from class 2.
Release is official https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/newsroom/dcnr-plans-annual-whitewater-release-into-tohickon-creek .
NO Camping and parking at take-out AS the Delaware is flooding. https://rivercountry.net/nockamixon-dam-release/ .
KCCNY is discussing alternatives but you can expect shuttle to be long and confusing.
