Long, *15-mile day that ends in a 3-mile float out. Remote, with long, wide rapids so class 3-4 depending on level, with a solid roll and the ability to pick a line in big water and blast a hole. (Big step above Mongaup but not quite a Dryway level). Swims are long and rough.
Starts with 3 miles on the Indian and only has 2 hour release so not a trip to be pushing your abilities. Cooler fall water and air and few commercial rafts up the exposure even further.
You’ll be asked to walk off if you swim on the Indian and forced to walk off if you swim twice on the Indian as once you join the Indian walking off isn’t an option.
Sunday likely morning Indian lap(s)in the morning followed by the Sacadaga in the early afternoon, but another Gorge trip is possible. TBD. The Sac is a beautiful class 2+ that starts with a great play wave and it’s barely out of the way on the drive home to south or west.
If there’s interest we might bring the raft or have an easier afternoon paddle on the Hudson below North River (Class 1-2). Contact us if you are interested.
Lots of play. Way more fun than walking over the dam on the West.
Plan is to camp at one of the primitive backcountry sites in the area, though there’s also plenty of regular campgrounds in the area including Lake Durant State Campground about 15 minutes further north. There are plenty of more luxurious accommodations in the area.
Food likely potluck.

*Trip will only be 12 miles. After that you’re on your own.
