Join us for a day of paddling on the Fife Brook Section of the Deerfield River.
We’ll work on river running skills, so plan for about 3-4 hours on the water. If there’s something specific you want to work on let the coordinator know.
Required skills: previous whitewater kayaking experience on Class II, ability to wet exit and self rescue in Class II whitewater. Growth oriented and team mindset.
Required & Suggested gear: helmet, kayak, paddle, PFD, skirt, long sleeve dry or splash top or drysuit. Boats must be outfitted with float bags. If you need to borrow equipment, please arrange with the KCCNY equipment chair.
This trip will have a pre-river/group management/safety talk prior to ANYONE putting on the water. We will cover defensive/offensive swimming, how to receive a rope when swimming, river signals for communication, and specific lead and sweep boaters for our group.
Participants will be responsible for their own camping accommodations and meals.
