I’m planning a trip to Section I of the Lehigh River on Saturday, April 4. This stretch will likely be running over 1400 CFS, which bumps it up to a Class II–III run with faster current and more pushy features than usual.
Paddlers should have solid self-rescue skills and be comfortable in moving water with limited recovery time between features. This is not a beginner float at these levels.
Cold Weather Advisory:
Water temperatures are currently in the mid to upper 40s°F, while air temps are expected in the mid 60s°F. Proper cold-water gear is required—drysuit strongly recommended (or at minimum a full wetsuit with appropriate layers). Dress for the swim, not the air.
This trip is tentative based on water levels and may be adjusted or canceled if conditions change.
If you’re looking to get out early season and don’t mind a little push in the current, this should be a solid run.
